Wisdome

Overview

Wisdome is a national collaboration that unites five of Sweden’s leading science centers to create new ways of presenting complex science and data. The initiative was established through a centennial donation from the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, with the goal of making research and technology accessible to the public.

By utilizing advanced dome theater technology, Wisdome visualizes phenomena and environments that are otherwise difficult or impossible to perceive—ranging from macro-level astrophysical datasets to microscopic biological processes.

The Five Wisdome Sites

The initiative connects five regional hubs across Sweden:

Research and Content Production

The foundation for the initiative rests on the visualization research conducted at Linköping University and Visualiseringscenter C. While each partner site operates its own dome theater for local audiences, the production team in Norrköping serves as the primary creative and technical hub for the network. The data-driven fulldome productions and interactive experiences developed here are distributed and shared across all five national sites, creating a shared platform for science communication and public engagement.
