Data and Me
Data and Me is an interactive exhibition that demonstrates how personal data collection can be a powerful tool for self-reflection and community expression. Born from a collaboration between researchers at Linköping University and Östergötlands Stadsmission's youth leadership program, Power in da Hood, the project showcases that tracking data doesn't require complex software.
The exhibition invites visitors to explore three distinct creative methods for turning personal everyday metrics into physical and digital visual forms.
- Data Jewelry: Showcases how wearable pieces can tell a story. Visitors see how personal habits, like tracking daily activities or counting types of candy, can be mapped into distinct, custom beaded jewelry patterns.
- Data Flower: Moves past standard charts by turning weekly logs into organic digital graphics. Visitors follow steps to build and interpret unique "data flowers," where each petal represents a specific type of weekly activity.
- Data Mapping: Explores maps beyond basic infrastructure. This module uses the geography of Norrköping to show how mapping personal experiences, memories, and resident data helps us better understand our communities.
